I just finished watching "Episode IV: A New Fangled Hope" from the Star Wars Special Edition DVD set I got for Christmas, and it seems Mr. Lucas decided it needed more blue. The blue was so bright that it glowed in some scenes. The color would actually bleed off of R2's head in some shots.
